The first service they provide is network services (as a mobile virtual network using the O2 network). Unlike many operators, giffgaff do not offer long-term mobile phone contracts. Rather, they offer monthly SIM-only plans, which they call ‘goodybags’, giving you the flexibility to chop and change your plan as you like/need.
The 7 plans offered by giffgaff range from the most basic: 500 MB of data with 500 texts and 150 minutes, to the most comprehensive with their special ‘always on’ data and unlimited calls and texts. The speed of data offered on all of the plans is 4G. A list of UK and international rates can be found on the company website. Costs will remain the same if you use your ‘goodybag’ abroad in Europe. If you go further afield, you can still use your plan if you top up your account.
Your SIM card can be ordered online, where you can also activate it. The only prerequisite is an unlocked phone.
Giffgaff also sell unlocked mobile phones. All of the latest brands are represented, including Apple, LG and Huawei. You can choose whether you want to buy a refurbished model, or a new handset. The website also has a great feature to help you to compare various handsets. If you order your phone before 10pm, it will be delivered the next day free of charge.
Pre-owned mobiles are also available from the giffgaff marketplace. You can also sell your phone here too. There are no postal delivery costs for using this service.
Current customers can add credit to their account and keep up to date with their activity via the online account service.
