Founded in 2005, The Midcounties Co-operative is perhaps best known nowadays for its supermarket stores. However, as a co-operative, the Co-op offers many other services besides such as travel, pharmacy and even for funerals. One such service offered by the Co-op since 2010 is energy, that is, gas and electricity.
Co-op Energy offers tariffs for electricity alone. It is possible to choose a tariff whereby the cost is fixed until January 2020 (or November 2019 for the green energy option). Depending on which tariff you choose, there are various payment options available including by direct debit, payment when you receive your bill, or pre-payment.
Combined tariffs for electricity and gas are also available, in similar terms to the above option.
You can easily compare tariffs and get a quote for your Co-op gas and/or electricity tariff online.
Given that the company is a co-operative it has an ethical focus meaning that, amongst other initiatives, they give funds back and volunteer support to the local community.
Furthering this ethical approach, all of the electricity offered by Co-op Energy is renewable. They also give you the option to decide which energy sources you prefer your energy to come from, including local community projects. Options include wind, solar and hydro power.
Co-op energy have a dedicated page for their gas and electricity services with a host of extremely valuable information. They have advice pages which, amongst other ideas, advise on green energy and how to save energy. In addition to a frequently asked questions section, they have a help centre which covers a wide range of topics from bills and payment to meters, and from society and membership to emergencies.
If you need further help, you can contact the Co-op energy team by postal address, email, or telephone. To increase efficiency, the telephone services are itemised by enquiry and relevant numbers can be found on the Co-op energy website.
To receive the latest updates about the company, you can check out the news page on the Co-op energy website. You can also sign up for the newsletter there, which also publishes the latest deals of the company and if you really don’t want to miss a thing, on the website you can also find links to their social media accounts, which include Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
